Though my favorite is yellow gold, different opals call for different colored metals, and this one yearned for the warmth of pink gold. A round, dark-based opal with bright play of color, delicately held by five tapered points— for the five sepals of a rose. This rosebud is almost ready to bloom.

From Ethiopia’s Wollo region, these opals are cut and polished by local artisans, preserving both the livelihood of the community and the integrity of the stone. Each stone is left untreated, as created by the earth and is chosen with the utmost discernment.
